85 Cell Phone Tips, Tricks and Hacks for a More Streamlined Life - Tips - Mobile Maven: "10. Free international calls. In the past, if you want to talk to someone across an ocean you should be prepared to pay. That is until Rebtel and Talkster developed an ad-supported free service to make these once outrageously expensive calls completely free. The service works by creating local phone numbers for both parties. One party would call a local number generated for them and the other party would have to hang up the phone and call back to their local number. The call is routed through a VoIP server and is at no cost to either party if completed correctly."

Many service providers lock your phone so that you cannot obtain service on that particular cell phone through any other provider. For those who do not know how to tell if their phone is locked, just put a sim card from another provider into your phone and turn it on. If you get any type of message stating the phone cannot access service, your phone is locked. What benefit is there to unlocking your phone? If your phone is locked, you cannot access service with any other provider. This can be especially frustrating if you are traveling and trying to avoid roaming charges or if you have a good cell phone you still want to use and want to switch your service to a different provider"

Phone Tips To Get Things Done - Professional Phone Skills
Phone Tips To Get Things Done - Professional Phone Skills: "The following are some tips that will help you improve your phone voice and technique.
1. THIRD RING RULE: Answer the phone by the third ring or make sure you voice mail is set to pick up by the third ring. Today people are not inclined to wait much longer and will assume you are not available and hang up. Remember, as much as we think we don't like voice mail, we like the option of leaving a message.
2. PROFESSIONAL GREETING: Remember the 87% rule above and make a good impression. Be aware of what you are going to say in the greeting. Then practice and rehearse BEFORE you leave the greeting on your answering machine. Be short and to the point. Don't drag out the greeting. It is obvious you are 'Out of the office or away from your desk' otherwise you would answer your phone. Consider leaving such statements out of your greeting unless you are actually away from the office, then say so and leave a date for your return. I recommend that you leave clear instructions as to what information you need from the caller. Reminder the caller to leave their phone number, best time to return the call and a brief subject.
3. PREPARE THEN ANSWER: Have a note pad and pen by your phone at all times. Write down the caller's name and use it during the conversation."

Cell Phone Tips and Tricks - Students and Cell Phones
Cell Phone Tips and Tricks - Students and Cell Phones: "Cell Phones and Time Management
Reminders and alarms are some of the most useful tools on a cell phone, but they are also the least appreciated.
Most cell phones come with a scheduler to allow you to set an alarm at a certain time of day or on a certain date. You can set alarms to remind you of an established daily homework time to keep you from chatting right through your work time. For instance, you can set up a beeper that goes off every night at 7.
You could also use calendar reminders to notify you when projects and assignments are due. These reminders can be set up weeks and months ahead of time."

10 Cell Phone Tips : Productivity501: "International Usage
If you plan to use a phone internationally, make sure you understand where it will work, where it won’t and what types of plans are available. If you do extensive traveling, it might be cost effective to get a SIM card at your destination. Make sure your phone supports using a SIM card from a different cell phone company. Some of the international phones will let you add a SIM card (GSM technology) even though they are sold from a CDMA carrier in the US.
Be sure you understand how the data plans work internationally. I’ve heard many horror stories about people coming back with thousands of dollars in cell phone charges because they checked their email overseas. In my experience, Blackberry is one of the few phones where you can get a flat rate on international data usage." theres onother useful things you can do if your cell phone is capable of wifi connection connect to a wifi and when you dial from overseas you should not be get charge because you are out carrier coverage area which is, you are not using their band instead you are using wifi thats why it become free international call " outside state "
Its better on top of it rather than be sorry when you get back

Improve your Cell phone signal
Improve your cell phone signal
Your phone and your network could interfere with each other if they're both operating at 5.8GHz, but you're in luck. Devices that operate at 5.8GHz typically enjoy a lot more elbow room than devices that operate at 2.4GHz. That's because 802.11a networking gear, which uses the 5.8GHz band, has eight nonoverlapping channels to choose from for indoor use (and four more for outdoor point-to-point connections). In contrast, 2.4GHz 802.11g devices have only three nonoverlapping channels. The extra wiggle room in the 5.8GHz band makes it much easier to keep devices operating at that frequency out of each other's way. The trick is to use separate nonoverlapping channels for your network and your phone. Check the user manual for your wireless router or access point for instructions on how to adjust the channel of your wireless network.

Cell Phone Tips and Tricks - Students and Cell Phones
Cell Phone Tips and Tricks - Students and Cell Phones: "Top Cell Phone Tips
By Grace Fleming, About.comSee More About:time managementschool supplies
If you're a normal student, you probably love your cell phone. It provides a connection to all the important people in your life. But did you know that the cell phone can actually be a handy device for aiding in homework and studies, and it can be a great safety feature, as well?
1. Cell Phones and Time Management
These reminders can be set up weeks and months ahead of time.
2. Group Communication
If you find yourself working on a group project or needing the advice of a few friends as you do your history homework, try using the three-way calling feature. It's available on most cell phones.
You may not even be aware that this feature is available on your phone, so you may want to experiment a little. First call one friend and establish a clear connection. Then enter the number of a second friend on the keypad and press send. If your phone has the three-way feature, then the second call will go through and the first friend will be on hold. Simply press send again to re-connect with the first friend."

Samsung Gravity 2 SGH-T469 - metallic pumpkin (T-Mobile) Cell Phone reviews - CNET Reviews
Samsung Gravity 2 SGH-T469 - metallic pumpkin (T-Mobile) Cell Phone reviews - CNET Reviews: "The Samsung Gravity was one of T-Mobile's first messaging phones, and while we liked it, it did not have a lot of features. It had no 3G, no GPS, and only a 1.3-megapixel camera. However, its sequel, appropriately dubbed the Samsung Gravity 2, fixed all that. The Gravity 2 not only has 3G, GPS, and a 2.0-megapixel camera, it is thinner and sleeker than its predecessor. The Samsung Gravity 2 is available for $30 with a two-year service agreement, which makes it one of the most affordable 3G messaging phones around.
Design
The Samsung Gravity 2 retains the same overall design as the Samsung Gravity. It has a candy bar appearance when viewed on the front and slides to the right to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard. However, it is a bit smaller and thinner at 4.5 inches long by 2.1 inches wide by 0.6 inch thick (Compared to the 4.53 inches by 2.07 inches by 0.7 inch measurements on the Samsung Gravity), the keypad layout is slightly different, and the display is 2.3 inches diagonally instead of 2.1."
